Founded in 1916, the International Institute of Akron (IIA) is a non-profit agency that provides services to the foreign-born in Akron and the Summit County, Ohio community. Our mission is to contribute to the well being of our community by creating and implementing programs and services to assist the foreign born to integrate into our society, to promote public awareness of the value of ethnic diversity, and to encourage international communication.

The International Institute of Akron is recognized by the United States Department of Justice Board of Immigration Appeals to represent the foreign born. Our immigration counselors are accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Department of Homeland Security to represent clients before the courts and the DHS. The International Institute of Akron is also a member of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI).
