Since the last edition of the newsletter, we have lost The Lion of The Senate, Ted Kennedy, a man who committed his life to public service and to providing a dedicated liberal voice to the Senate chamber. While the press has been focusing on his last years of life, Senator Kennedy’s vision and now legacy of social change cannot be underestimated.
Beyond the multiple tragedies Senator Kennedy endured, a lifetime in the spotlight which was not flattering at all times we may forget his commitment on many fronts to assist those less fortunate from a patriarch of one of the wealthiest and privileged families in the United States.
While the web has provided a platform with numerous opportunities for charities and nonprofits to “get their message out”, we at VacationHomesforCharity.org were quite impressed when we were introduced to www.change.org. Unlike other web venues concentrating on one charity/non-profit, Change.org is literally a gathering for multiple causes providing truth to the adage “strength by numbers”.
One of the tenets of VacationHomesforCharity.org is to assist and educate non-profits and charities to the concept of best practices concerning fundraising. In our relentless pursuit of opportunities for our participating charities, we desire to pass along relevant information from valuable fundraising tips to seminar opportunities Q&A’s with our partner charities and non-profits.
During late October, “The Giving Back Fund” is coordinating a Two-Day Intensive Fundraising Summit for Sports and Entertainment Philanthropy Professionals in Santa Monica, CA. We at VacationHomesforCharity.org wish to pass the information (below) on to those who may be interested in attending including links for registration.
