Each annual Gala and Golf Classic grows in popularity and success with every new year and we are pleased to announce this year’s recipient as Golden Rotary Club Foundation.

This organization is a charitable organization that puts the power of partnership to practical use through their innovative, community-based programs. The Golden Rotary Club Foundation facilitates and contributes to such activities as feeding at-risk children and seniors in our area, providing academic and leadership scholarships for our youth, developing and supporting student mentoring and ethics programs, and producing community quality-of-life projects. The joint goal of the Golden Rotary Club Foundation and the RHCC Foundation is to raise over a quarter of a million dollars at the 2009 Gala and Golf Classic. With your help and participation, we can certainly meet that goal and create a universe of sharing!

A New Beneficiary Every Year…

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease.

The Foundation is the leading organization in the United States devoted to cystic fibrosis. It funds and accredits more than 115 CF care centers, 95 adult care programs and 50 affiliate programs, and has 80 chapters and branch offices nationwide.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of the most efficient organizations of its kind. It has received a four-star rating for sound fiscal management from Charity Navigator, the largest independent charity evaluator in the United States and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance.

The Foundation’s business model has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health and by publications such as Forbes, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek.

Until we conquer this disease, our team will work tirelessly to extend and enhance life for those with cystic fibrosis by functioning as:  

• Scientific pioneers, blazing new trails in CF research;
• Fund-raisers, securing the money needed to support our efforts;
• Advocates, keeping CF a top priority in government, industry and research;
• Investors, funding drug discovery and development;
• Caregivers, linking patients and families to specialized CF care; and
• Family, offering support, information and resources.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Is…Building on Success:

• When the Foundation was established in 1955, children with CF were not expected to live long enough to attend elementary school. Due in large part to the Foundation’s aggressive investments in innovative research and comprehensive care, the predicted median survival age for people with this disease is now more than 37 years.
• In 1989, CF Foundation-supported scientists discovered the defective gene that causes cystic fibrosis-a monumental breakthrough on the road to a cure.
• The Foundation has played an integral role in the development and FDA approval of four therapies that are now a routine part of treatment regimens for many with CF. The Foundation is actively supporting more than 30 potential new treatments currently in development-that’s more than in the entire history of the disease. Our challenge is to find enough patients to join clinical trials to keep the research moving forward.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Is…Still Making Progress.

Our Mission

Research: Since 1970, the OI Foundation has doubled funding for research every five years, for a total investment of almost $3 million. Funding is available for postdoctoral fellowships to encourage new investigators to begin a career in OI research, and seed grants for preliminary research. All applications are reviewed by the Foundation’s Scientific Review Committee, which includes many preeminent OI researchers and clinicians. Funding also supports the OI Registry and the Linked Clinical Research Centers. The potential for results in OI research is growing, with recent advances in gene therapy, a new diagnostic test, and drug therapies under study.

Education: The Foundation’s principal education event is the Biennial National Conference on OI, which provides more than 570 people with medical, research, and coping information. For many, it’s the first opportunity to meet others who are living with OI. In addition, the Foundation is continually developing new information resources in response to the needs of families, individuals, and professionals working with those affected by OI. Topics covered include schooling, pain management, psychosocial needs of the family, child abuse, fracture management, and osteoporosis.

Awareness: The Foundation strives to build public awareness and generate additional support among individuals, community organizations, public agencies, and medical professionals. Up-to-date information on OI– from medical issues to daily living strategies– is available via phone, Internet, fax, and mail. The Foundation also reaches out with print publications, press releases, DVDs, and the web site.

Mutual Support: Improving quality of life is a continuing challenge that our small group of staff and enormous army of volunteers work constantly to achieve. From hosting 36 support and network groups in 25 states to expanding resources, hosting our online chat room or raising funds, the OI community and Foundation staff provide quality support services to more than 100,000 people each year.

The Children’s Aid Foundation is a national charity dedicated to improving the lives of abused, neglected and high-risk children and youth in communities across Canada. As a registered charity, we raise funds to implement programs that give these children and youth the skills and support they need to reach their full potential.

 Our Unique Position

With a separate endowment that covers our administrative expenses, we are in the unique position to guarantee that 100% of all donations are directed to programming for children and youth in need. By maximizing our return on investment, donors can rest assured that all donations will have an immediate and long-lasting impact.

Quick Fact: More than 300,000 children and youth are abused and neglected each year in Canada.   The good news is that since 1979, the Children’s Aid Foundation has been helping them to live safer and happier lives.

Since 1979, the Children’s Aid Foundation has been making a difference in the lives of children by raising funds and supporting initiatives for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Our mission is to improve the lives of abused and neglected children through prevention, enrichment and education. This three-pronged approach enables us not only to meet the immediate and urgent needs of children, but more importantly, allows the Foundation to explore unique and innovative ways to make a longer lasting impact on the lives of the children we serve and ultimately the community.

The purpose of the Ladera Ranch Education Foundation grant program is to support the public schools that serve the community of Ladera Ranch and to provide funds to enrich the learning environment, motivate students, and enhance instructional effectiveness. Grants are awarded on an annual basis and the success of LREF fund raising events directly impacts the amount of funds that are awarded to schools each year. 

In 2008, the Gala generated over $40,000 and LREF was able to grant funds to various curriculum areas including reading, math, social studies and music. Since it’s incorporation in July 2004, LREF has granted over $109,000 through it’s fund raising efforts.

Net funds from the 2009 Ten Gallon Gala will help to fund the LREF grant awards.

The Ten Gallon Gala is the Ladera Ranch Education Foundation’s (LREF) signature fundraising event.  The fifth annual Gala will be held at the Bell Tower Community Center in Rancho Santa Margarita on March 21, 2009.  The western themed evening will feature dinner, dancing and incredible silent and live auctions.  The Ten Gallon Gala is organized and planned by an all volunteer committee and is LREF’s largest fundraiser of each year.  We are proud to have Mathnasium of Ladera Ranch continue their support as the title sponsor.

The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation of Washington was established in 1961 as a statewide nonprofit organization. Starting in 2007, the Foundation is now operating under a new banner to reflect its expanded mission and prevention efforts: The Northwest Infant Survival Alliance-SIDS Foundation of Washington (NISA-SIDS). NISA-SIDS is supported solely by memorials, public donations, special events, and grants. We focus our support and outreach efforts on Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

OUR MISSION
The Northwest Infant Survival Alliance-SIDS Foundation of Washington is dedicated to the informational and emotional support of bereaved families, to the education of the general public and professionals, and to the ultimate elimination of sudden infant death through research.
