The Off the Street Club ended its great Gatsby event in the wee hours of the morning.  Participants drank and danced the night away while raising money for an excellent cause. Vacation Homes for Charity and Encanto Resorts teamed up with the charity at their fundraiser.  The Encanto Resort El Faro sold at the auction for $1200.  These proceeds go to help kids have a chance.

This summer the OTSC has been holding a campaign entitled “Save our Summer.”  So far 400 kids have been sent to a summer camp experience and had moments to escape the streets.  So even if you missed the Great Gatsby Gala it is not to late to get involved and make a huge difference in a child’s life.

Vacation Homes for Charity was proud to be a part of helping Denver Active 20-30 raise $14,500 through the use of Casa de Golf, an amazing home in Costa Rica who generously allows charities to use their home to raise money for their causes.  Thanks again to Casa de Golf. Thanks to the generous support of its contributors, Orange County nonprofit Miocean raised nearly $500,000 at its annual Blue 42 Celebration on June 11, 2010. The event, which is named for – and directly benefits – Orange County’s beautiful 42-mile coastline, also honored James A. Kelly, senior vice president of Southern California Edison, for his role in protecting the local watersheds.

More than 400 guests attended the Blue 42 Celebration, vying for coveted auction items, including a 2010 MINI Cooper, donated by Irvine MINI/Irvine BMW; customized surf and paddle boards created by surf artisans Ron House and Drew Brophy; an opportunity to walk the red carpet during a Hollywood movie premier; and a rare Color Fusion painting by artist and philanthropist Dick Marconi. Vacation Homes for Charity was proud to be a part of the event, by helping connect them to Casa Ramon who offered a week stay at their home.  The home sold for $7500.

Presenting sponsors for the event included Ketel One Vodka; St. Regis Resort-Monarch Beach; the RC Baker Foundation, and Southern California Edison. Entertainment was provided by the hit band, The English Beat.

Miocean board chairman Patrick R. Fuscoe, P.E., announced that Miocean had recently completed its 7th coastal water quality improvement projects and was now supporting 13 educational programs. As a result, Fuscoe said, Miocean was helping stop millions of gallons of polluted runoff and tons of litter and debris from reaching Orange County’s shoreline, and teaching thousands of local students about the importance of protecting their local watersheds.

Sandhusrt Estate

The Danville.Sycamore Valley Rotary Club sold one of Vacation Home for Charities finest homes, Sandhurst.  The Rotary Club raises money for scholarships and special needs in their community and with the use of Sandhurst they were able to raise $3500 for their causes.  Special thanks to Leslie Wolf and the Sandhurst estate for your generosity.

From the beginning, IRI was designed to create opportunities where none existed before: opportunities for severely disabled adults to live a more rewarding life as an integrated member of society, in homes designed for their special needs, and with an extensive circle of support to give them access to opportunities to learn, grow and dream. At the time IRI was founded there were few agencies that supported individuals with developmental disabilities, visual impairments and behavioral difficulties. Now, the need for these services is growing. Our founding parents recognized a dual challenge: their disabled children were “aging out” of existing programs as they grew into young adulthood as the parents themselves grew older, and they became concerned about what kind of future their children would have if each family had to develop their own care-giving solutions. These parents recognized the need for housing and support services designed to give their adult children a brighter future, so together they began with one group, one house at a time, and set about designing a community-wide solution that became known as IRI. Founding families became members of our Board. Some of the founding members still serve to help IRI remain focused on its mission.

To provide the highest quality of life for consumers, IRI approaches each person as an individual. Every support is guided by the voice of each individual. The settings in which our consumers live and work must be comfortable for them, and for our staff working directly for them. Our team members reflect the deepest values of our agency, integrity and compassion. Since 2006, we’ve raised over $60,000 to the International Myeloma Foundation and this year Vacation Homes for Charity & Las Terrezas Resort was a part of that as Music against Myeloma sold the Belize home at their auction.
